The need for a lab set up

Heating is the most energy intensive process in any industry. It is probably also riddled with the highest number of issues related to quality, productivity and energy efficiency.
Litel revolutionized the process heating scenario when it introduced infrared technology in India in 1987 and addressed many of these issues.
A fundamental problem arises from the fact that most conventional equipment is based on a few standardized, repetitive concepts which do not apply equally well in all situations. Hence, there is a mismatch between processes and equipment. As a solution, Litel has created a lab set up where all the design aspects related to the heating system can be verified even before the heating system is designed.

DSIR certification

Litel is a DSIR (Government of India’s Department of Scientific and Industrial Research ) certified R & D laboratory, a rare achievement for a private sector organisation. This certification was given in recognition of fundamental engineering research done by Litel for various applications. Litel is also ISO 9001:2015 certified.

The lab set up consists of, among other things:

  • Conveyorized ovens of various types: Oven/dryer with fiberglass mesh belt conveyor, Oven/dryer with chain conveyors, Oven with overhead conveyor
  • Combination of electric IR, gas IR, electric and gas convection sources
  • Various small-sized flexible set-ups for quick, free trials. These include IR emitters of all types. 
  • An extensive measurement and recording setup. It includes various thermocouples, state-of-the-art non-contact temperature sensors, multi-channel traveling recorders, etc.
